Purpose of award: To support students who are the children and stepchildren of veterans who served in the Armed Forces.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be high school seniors, complete 50 hours of volunteer service and be the sons or daughters of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion. Applicants should submit applications, four recommendation letters, essays, proof of volunteering, transcripts, ACT or SAT scores, and parents' military service description. Awards are based on character, essay, application, leadership, financial need and scholarship.

Minimum GPA: None
Amount: $1,000-$2,500.
Number of awards: 10.
Deadline: March 1.
