Purpose of award: To recognize outstanding achievement.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be children, step-children, grandchildren or great grandchildren of a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart or a veteran killed in action or a veteran who died of injuries but did not have the chance to join the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens, be high school graduates or high school seniors, have a 2.75 minimum GPA and be enrolled in a full-time program in a college. Applicants must write an essay and send a non-refundable $10 fee.
